Ok, here we go. This was my route up to Bar Harbor, where Lisa had been invited to attend a conference because she is a hearing loss science rockstar. Because of needing to save my vacation days, I did not take a day to travel up: instead, I left after work on Tuesday (9/17). Spend the night on I-95, anyone...? Oh yes.
Departure time was 7:30pm. Let me be the first to tell you (probably the first...I mean, really): I-95 gets a lot more civilized after 11pm. There were stretches of the NJ Turnpike and, later, CT, where I was alone on the road. Luxury!
I mentally blew a kiss to mom and dad in Stamford as I rolled through sometime around 2am. I stopped every 90 minutes to get off the bike, eat a little and drink a sip of water. By 3am I was happy to have a cup of nice hot coffee somewhere near Mystic, CT. Sunrise found me taking one of the beltways around Boston, and then New Hamster, and...the Land of Stephen King: Maine.
