Mark the park ranger. Like all employees I encountered at Chincoteague, he was friendly and helpful, although evidently prohibited from smiling for the camera. After I parked the Tiger, he pulled in behind me. He got out and right away said, "You're not doing anything wrong, I just wanted to look at your bike." (The Tiger provokes comment and conversation everywhere. People love to talk about it, or their own Triumph, or their dad's, etc. It's a fun way to meet people.) Anyway, Mark has a BMW that he hopes to one day ride across country too.
Chincoteague itself looks like a great place for a family vacation. It's flat, and has a lot of bicycle trails to get to the beaches. Once there you can play on the beach, of course, and also do things like kayak. Apparently mosquitos are a plague in the summer, though
